Weymouth Teen Dies Days After Braintree Crash Caused By Drunk Driver, Police Say

An 18-year-old woman has died following a head-on crash in Braintree that police say involved a drunk driver earlier this month, authorities said.

Alexia "Lexi" Nixon, of Weymouth, succumbed to her injuries Tuesday night, Dec. 10, at Boston Medical Center, days after the Dec. 1. collision near 655 Union Street, the Norfolk District Attorney's Office said. 

The crash, which occurred around 12:50 a.m. between an SUV and pick-up truck, also left the SUV's 18-year-old driver and another passenger with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

The pickup truck driver, Ryan Gorman, 39, of Holbrook, has been charged with three counts of driving under the influence of alcohol causing serious bodily injury, along with other charges. Gorman pleaded not guilty from his hospital bed and was released on $5,000 cash bail. He is scheduled to return to Quincy District Court on Jan. 2, 2025.

Meanwhile, Lexi's death spread shock and sadness.

"Lexi girl rest in the sweetest peace beautiful 🤍🫶🏼" one person commented on Instagram.

"rest in peace lexi, i’m glad the suffering is over, watch over us and spread your wings, angel," another added.

The crash remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police, the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office, and Braintree Police.
